Competitive Gymnastics

Our Program:

Our program includes both pre-competitive and competitive gymnasts who train for a given number of hours on a weekly basis, year-round. Competitive tryouts are formally held approximately 3 times per year , but we’re also happy to evaluate any interested children at any time.Ages range from as young as 4 yrs old in our pre-competitive group, to competitive gymnasts in their early teens. Given the more strenuous nature of the training, and the extensive preparation required before actually competing, beginning early and sticking with it are usually keys to success.

Our Head Coaches:

Our teams train under the supervision of husband & wife team, Vasi & Cristina Muntean, who bring a wealth of education and experience to St. Thomas gymnastics. Both are lifelong gymnasts, graduates of the National Academy of Physical Education & Sport in Bucharest, Romania, and competed nationally and internationally for teams in Romania, before embarking on their coaching careers.

Prior to joining his wife in Canada, Vasi was also a member of the acrobatic touring group Aeros and performed in musical acrobatic shows around the world. Both are level 2 certified in Women’s Artistic and Vasile also holds level 2 certification in Men’s Artistic and Trampoline.
